About Us

Wellspring of Life

Wellspring of Life includes ministries reaching not only El Doradito, but many villages and communities in the greater San Manuel region. Cornerstone Christian Academy and Cornerstone Christian Ranch are separate ministries but work together and are collectively Wellspring of Life. But there are also other aspects of Wellspring of Life that are not easily categorized into the Academy and School that include a desire to help an evangelical church get planted, and providing community support and outreach.

Where is Wellspring of Life?

Honduras is a country a little smaller than the State of Louisiana, with a population of about 9.5 million people. Honduras is located in Central America, south of Mexico, between Guatemala and Nicaragua, with El Salvador and a little of the Pacific Ocean on one side, and the Caribbean Sea on the other. It is mostly tropical - hot and humid all year. Honduras is on Central Standard Time and a plane flight from the U.S. is around 4-6 hours.

Where is El Doradito?

El Doradito is the town in which the Academy and Ranch are located. This rural village is approximately six miles south of the San Pedro Sula International Airport, the second biggest city in Honduras. The route from the airport to El Doradito starts on a four-lane highway, then a paved two-lane road, eventually a maintained dirt road becomes a rough dirt road. While in site of a larger town, El Doradito is very small.

Our Story

Bob and Joyce Coder founded Wellspring of Life in 2000 as a ministry to provide fresh water through the construction of wells. Their efforts started in Haiti and later came to Honduras. After drilling several wells in Honduras, they felt God leading them to invest in one place in Honduras. They began digging a well in a small community that later became, the village of El Doradito.

disciple a village

In the years to come mission teams from the United States helped with construction projects and soon the village had many cinder-block homes and a church. In addition to the need for homes, there was a need for Christian education. So with the help of several teams and organizations, Cornerstone Christian Academy was started.

Due to personal health concerns, Bob and Joyce returned to the United States in 2016. They continued to make short-term trips to El Doradito, supporting the ministry and what God was doing.

building as a community

Between 2016 and 2018, college student volunteers came to the school to spend a year or more teaching and sharing God's love with the students alongside the Honduran principal and teachers. One of these students, Mollie, told her parents, Brent and Anne Ozanne about the school, and the need for help to sustain the ministry moving forward.

In August 2018, Brent and Anne, along with their daughters Mollie and Abigail, moved to El Doradito. And upon arriving Brent and Anne immediately assumed both teaching and administrative roles.

Brent also began working with several Honduran employees on desperately needed repairs. While the first few months were basically organized chaos, God met the need and moved the school forward. Brent was able to hire more Honudran teachers while another ministry, CEPUDA, constructed two new classrooms that allowed all 180 plus students to attend the school at the same time.

for the glory of God

In April 2019, the ministry was miraculously given a 75-year lease on 278 acres of abandoned ranch land a short drive from the school. The only stipulation was that it was always to be used as a tool to glorify God, a stipulation we love! The ranch is receiving donations of animals that are being used to train the children and families in the care of animals, to provide milk, eggs, and meat, and eventually to help the school become self-sustaining.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

Wellspring of LIfe is truly an interdenominational affiliation of workers for Christ.

We accept the Scriptures as the revealed will of God, the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice, and for the purpose of maintaining general unity, declare these statements of faith:

The Scriptures are Inspired:
The Bible is the inspired Word of God, a revelation from God to man, the infallible rule of faith and conduct, and is superior to conscience and reason, but not contrary to reason. 2 Tim 3:15-17, 1 Pt 1:23-25, Heb 4:12

The One True Godhead:
The triune Godhead is comprised of three separate and distinct persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit, who are eternally self-existent, self-revealed, and function as one member of the Godhead, co-equal and co-eternal. Jn 14:9-11, 23-26, 2 Cor 3:27,18

Man, His Fall and Redemption:

Man was created good and upright, for God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness." But, man, by voluntary transgression, fell and his only hope of redemption is in Jesus Christ the Son of God. Gen 1:26-31, 3:1-7, Rom 5:12-21

 The Salvation of Man:
Man's only hope of redemption is through the shed blood and work of Jesus Christ. On the cross, Jesus Christ bore our sins, griefs, and infirmities -- providing salvation, deliverance, and healing for all mankind. Isa 53:4-6, Mat 8:16,17, Rom 10:4-13

Faith and Works
Salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ and not by human works;      however, our labors for Him are important for the advancement of His Kingdom and expressions of His great love. Rom 10:9-10, Ep 2:8-9, Titus 2: 5-7, 2 Cor 5:9-10, Mt 25:14f.

The Evidences of Salvation
The inward evidence to the believer of his salvation is the direct inner witness of the Holy Spirit (Rom 8:16). The outward evidence is a changed life reflecting God's love and kindness toward all men, righteousness, and holiness. Eph 5:1f, Col 3:1f.

The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit:
The Holy Spirit is the third member of the Godhead, co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit has been sent by Jesus Christ to indwell and to empower all believers, male and female. Every godly aspect of the believer’s life and the Church’s life is accomplished by the influence and work of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit indwells believers (Jn 14:7), seals them for the day of redemption (Eph 1:13,14), baptizes them with power (Acts 1:4-8), fills and controls them (Eph 5:17-19), and sanctifies them (1 Cor 6:11).

  • The Holy Spirit desires to manifest Himself through two main avenues of expression: the fruit of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit. God wants all believers to yield to the CHARACTER of God (Gal 5:22-25) and to the ABILITY of God (1 Cor 12:7-10).

  • It is the privilege and command that all believers should "follow after love and desire spiritual gifts" (1 Cor 14:1).

  • The Holy Spirit empowers both men and women for ministry – "And on my menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they shall prophesy" (Acts 2:18). "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:28).

 Baptism in Water:
The ordinance of baptism by burial with Christ should be observed as commanded in the Scriptures -- by all who truly repent and believe in Christ as Savior and Lord. In so doing, they declare to the world that they have died with Jesus and that they have also been raised with Him to walk in newness of life. (Mat 28:19, Rom 6-8).

 The Lord's Supper:
The ordinance of the Lord's Supper should be observed by all believers as commanded in the Scriptures. "And when He gave thanks, He broke it, and said, 'Take, eat; this is my body which is broken for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.' In the same way, also the cup, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in My blood. Do this as often as you drink it in remembrance of Me.' For as often as you eat this bread, and drink this cup, you do show the Lord's death until He comes." (1Cor 11:23-32)

The Church.

The Church is the body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of the Great Commission. Each true believer, born of the Spirit, is an integral part of the general assembly and Church of the firstborn, which are written in Heaven. Every believer should be in a supportive role of the local churches, which are visible expressions of the invisible Church. (Eph 1:22,23, Eph 2:19-22, Heb 12:22-24)

 The Gospel Message.
The Church has been given the Great Commission, to take the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ to every tongue, tribe, people, and nation (Mt 28:18-20, Mk 16:15-20). The gospel message encompasses total salvation for the whole person.

 The Marriage Covenant.
We believe that “marriage” has only one meaning as delineated in Scripture – a covenant relationship between one man and one woman in an exclusive union that is formally recognized by law. God created human beings as male and female (Gen 1:27). The complementary, relational nature of the human race as “male and female” reflects the order given by God when He created human beings “in His image” and commanded them to “multiply” from their union (Gen 1:26-28; 2:21-25; 3:20; 4:1; 5:1-2; Rom 8:29; 1 Cor 7:2; 2 Cor 3:18; Eph 5:25-28; 6:1-3).

The Blessed Hope.
The Scriptures declare that Jesus Christ is coming again to gather all His Saints unto Himself. The dead in Christ shall rise first -- then those believers who are alive will be gloriously transformed. Death will be swallowed up in victory. (1Cor 15:50-58, 1Thess 4:16-17, 2 Thess 2:1).

The New Heaven and The New Earth.
The Bible declares that there shall be a new heaven and a new earth where there shall be no more sorrow, death, curse, or disease. The Saints shall live forever with God to rule and reign with Jesus Christ. (Rev 21 & 22).
