Educating and Equipping with the Word of God

We are definitely living in seasons of constant change, both personally here in Honduras as well as globally.  Those changes can be met with excitement and anticipation, or with fear and anxiety. More often than not, it will come as a mixture of both. Most importantly, we must allow these seasons of change to build our faith as we turn our eyes ever increasingly to the One who never changes. It is more important than ever to be firmly rooted in the firm foundation of Truth. Our focus, more than ever, is helping others find that foundation in Jesus and His Word! Thank you to those of you who continually come along side of us to share the burden of the lost and hopeless to help us give the Hope of Jesus to a dying world. May we all be seeking more of Jesus daily, growing in His Word, discerning the times and seasons, and seeking to serve Him more today than we did yesterday. Let's meet the changes of this world with the certainty that God will bring about His good and perfect purpose! In the meantime, may He keep us steadfast in compassion and grace, as well as faithful in all things big or small and may we be found busy about our Father's business.

 The Finish Line

ree

This is a season of saying goodbyes for us once again. It seems for the life of a missionary, there are often goodbyes, as more often than not your job or role in someone's life is seasonal. Even when those goodbyes are joyous, in that you were able to see that season through to completion it can still be difficult to see it come to an end. Bear with me as I share several of those with you. The first is joyous in that a goal that we had set from the day we set foot in Honduras seven years ago is coming to fruition! Cornerstone Christian Academy was started 11 years ago, and has been dependent upon missionary partners and volunteers to stay viable. The goal was to have all Honduran leadership and to be independently running so that despite global disruptions, such as we witnessed with the pandemic, when volunteers couldn't be here, the school and students would be able to continue their Christian education. We are in that point on transition and for the 2024-2025 school year that will be begin this August, we will soley be in an advisory and support role. We will continue to supply teams to assist with projects that they seek to have done, and we will continue to sponsor students as sponsors are available. When we arrived in Honduras it was our sole purpose to keep a school running in a community with few resources. That same community has been growing by leaps and bounds, and it is exciting to see many more come alongside providing more opportunities than ever before. The Lord brought us to Honduras with that one purpose and over time opened up so many more.

You may already be aware from our last newsletter or from social media posts we are saying our goodbyes to two sets of team members. Thomas and Becca Mcrea, who served with us the last two years who are returning to the US after investing whole hardily into communities here in Honduras. As well as our daughter Mollie and son-in-law Jared who have served at CCR. Mollie after five and a half years of time with us in HN and Jared the last three and half years. They welcomed two babies while they were here and now will reside back in Tennessee as they prepare for their third. As hard as it is to see loved ones go, in God's perfect timing, he sent back Javier and Marco. Their story is beautiful, and we are thankful to be a part of it. Marco was one of the first work-study students on the ranch and one of my first students when I taught at CCA. He graduated from CCA two years ago and went to mechanic school. Javier, who also worked at the ranch and helped teach students welding and word working left when Marco graduated, leaving a void for us here in those areas. But God was doing a beautiful work in their lives. God had been using the Bible lessons from school and the morning Bible lessons on the ranch to work in Javier and his wife Emily. They came to a saving knowledge of Jesus, were baptized here at CCR, married in the sight of the law and God. Because of their example Marco later came to that same saving knowledge. Now, due to conditions here our vehicles and tractors need a lot of maintenance and often spend a lot of time getting repairs or waiting for repairs, so much so that one of our dear ministry partners noticed and one day told us he was praying for us a full-time mechanic. We kind of chuckled and thought how would we pay for a mechanic full-time? Then about two months ago Marco showed up, looking for a job as a mechanic. There was no way we could turn down Marco, he holds a big space in our hearts. A couple of weeks later, his dad, Javier also approached us. His family had been encouraging him to see if he too could come back to work at CCR. Even though with his skill he could make more money elsewhere his heart now is not just to share his skill but to share the Gospel. The Lord anticipated every need and had already begun filling those needs! We are excited for what the future holds with these two on board. Please pray for monthly partners who want to help support the work that Marco and Javier do to share the mission of equipping others, not just with skills, but with the power of Christ.

MEET ABIGAIL AND LATRELLE

ree

Abigail and Latrelle joined us in May. They met and married while at Carolina University in Winston-Salem, NC. Abigail received her BA in Biblical Studies with a minor in Sign Language Interpretation. She is coordinating teams and volunteers as well as working with dairy products. Her heart for the deaf community will likely serve in us branching out with the ability to invite deaf students to potentially participate in archery and other ranch projects. Latrelle has a master's in business and is helping us with ranch work, with administration, as well as social media and website management. It's amazing to have someone on board with this skill set, so look for those upcoming changes to a more interactive website and social media. They are both have such a desire to lead the lost to a saving knowledge of Jesus and we are blessed to have them here in this season.

Learn More

As we meet goals, we turn to setting new ones. Always with the burden to bring in a harvest of souls, we look forward to the closing of one chapter which in turn will allow us to dig deeper into other outreaches. At CCR we are diving in with our new archery program as well as continuing teaching agriculture to nationals as well as missionaries needing to learn new skills to expand their effectiveness while in country. Please continue to be in prayer for each of these endeavors.

Prayer Requests

1) Just like the picture, please pray that we can be effective in shining God's promises into dark places. We will be doing something very new to us and that is hosting a Prophecy Conference with the goal of understanding a third of the Bible that is prophetic and how we begin to see our world through a Biblical Worldview.

2) We are in prayer about inviting a family, already serving in Honduras, and fully supported, who approached us about serving at CCR.

3) Pray for each of us we are each serving in new or different roles with the changes we have had in missionaries. We are all learning new things!

4) Pray for provision, as the world gets a little more uncertain people naturally have become unable or less inclined to give to ministries abroad. We have felt this and want to be able to maintain that which is before us. Please pray for monthly partners as well as ways to create income.

5) Brent and I will be Stateside the end of September for the birth of our 5th grandbaby and will spend time visiting Churches and small groups, please reach out if you are interested in hearing more about the work in Honduras.

Watch our website and Facebook pages for updates and changes! You will notice the website will take on a different look as we update and hopefully make it easier to find all the CCR news in the coming weeks!
